Inauguration and meetings of national steering committees (ATAPS-1, RAAMP, APPPEALS, VCDP & LIFE-ND)

The inauguration of three (3) national steering committees of ATASP-1, RAAMP AND APPEALS Projects and the combined meetings of five national steering committees (ATAPS-1, RAAMP, APPPEALS, VCDP&LIFE-ND) for consideration and approval of the 2022 AWPB was held at the HMA’s conference room, on Wednesday, 20th April, 2022.
The welcome address was delivered by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Earnest Umakhihe, who was ably represented by Dr Shehu Tijjani Bello, Director Agric Land and Climate Change Management Services.
The Permanent Secretary while welcoming members of the various Committees noted that the function of the Committees amongst others is to consider and approve the annual work-plan and budget of the projects, review/assess the progress made in project implementation, provide policy advisory and general oversight.
The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar while given remarks noted there is a significance role that is expected of the Committee members to play in the areas of over sighting and guidance on agricultural donor assisted project implementation in the country.
Thereafter, the Honourable Minister, who is the Chairman of the National Steering Committees (NSCs) inaugurated the National Project Steering Committee of three (3) projects as follows:
The opening session was closed with a group photograph of the Honourable Minister with all members of the inaugurated National Steering Committees and a vote-of thanks from Engr. Ubandoma Ularamu, Director Project Coordinating Unit.
The technical session was coordinated by the Sit-in Permanent Secretary.
Consideration and Approval of 2022 AWPB of 5 No Projects: All the five (5) projects took turn to present their 2022 Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWPB).
With regards to the need to regularly monitor and track project implementation performance, members of the National Steering Committees unanimously agreed that the Annual Work Plan and Budget consideration and approval be held early in the year henceforth.
